4-H Livestock Auction Information
July 6, 2020
Dear 4-H Livestock Auction Buyer,
We would like to invite you to participate in the 2020 Allen County 4-H Livestock Auction virtually starting at 12:00 noon on Sunday, August 2 through 12:00 noon on Tuesday, August 4.
The 2020 Allen County Public Fair has been cancelled but the 4-H’ers will have the opportunity to showcase their projects either virtually or in-person July 28-August 1. The Auction focuses on the success of the over 200 youth involved with 4-H market animals. It will be an event that you do not want to miss. Last years’ auction had 140 sale items, with a grand total of $140,795. Each 4-H member who has raised and shown livestock for the county fair will be allowed to participate in this year’s auction.
With it being a virtual auction, bidders will be putting donation (bids) on a member’s project through an online system. Each member will be only represented once in the auction. Their lot will include their name, a description of their project and a picture.
In the past, you may have been asked to be a participant in a buyer’s group. For this year, you will have 2 options:
1. Donate money directly to the 4-H member
2. Use the online system to enter your donation
Our virtual auction is being hosted at www.showpig.com. Drop down on the “Buyers” menu and choose Log In/Register to Bid. You, as a buyer will need to create an account on this website which includes your contact information. Locate the “Junior Fair” section of the website and select “Allen County 4-H Livestock Auction“. You will be able to then scroll and look through the 4-H members in the auction, viewing their pictures and descriptions. You can enter a donation on as many members as you choose.
Members have been offered a fair market prices for lambs, cattle, goats and pigs. All 4-H lambs, cattle, goats and pigs will be going to Hoosiers Feeding the Hungry. If you would like to donate the Hoosiers Feeding the Hungry program, please contact Deb Trish @ (260)541-0365.
Allen County 4-H will be sending you a bill following the auction. We appreciate your prompt payment upon receipt, as auction checks will NOT be issued to the 4-H member until full payment is collected from buyers.
If you are unable or unsure of the online process, or have questions, please contact one of the Livestock Auction Committee Members listed below.
We look forward to you participating in the 2020 Virtual Allen County Livestock Auction.
