About
Our History
Prior to construction of the Allen County Fairgrounds, the Allen County Fair was held at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum and other locations. With an original land grant from the county, our fairgrounds began as a self-supporting organization in 1989. It has been growing in size thanks to donations from corporate donors, area 4-H families, local civic organizations and other community-minded benefactors. The Allen County Fair was held for the first time on the grounds in 1989, and since then it has become one of our area’s favorite summertime traditions.
Our Mission
The Allen County Fairgrounds was founded in 1989 as the permanent home for the Allen County Fair and Allen County 4-H Clubs—a place dedicated to youth, family and community for educational and recreational purposes. The Fairgrounds is a non-profit 501c3 organization, receiving zero tax dollars and is solely funded through donations, sponsorships, fundraisers and facility rentals.
Our Organization
A volunteer-based board of directors and two paid staff members—along with countless volunteers operate the Allen County Fairgrounds. Board meetings are held once a month in the Administration Building.
